Bracli & G Thong $84.99
Disclosure: I received lingerie for this review free of charge.В All opinions are my own.
After my initial shock mellowed, I was delighted by my last encounter with the Bracli pearl front thong bodysuit , which I reviewed here in 2013. When the opportunity came up recently to review Bracli’s new collection, I jumped at it. I was curious how the brand has evolved in the past year since its foray into the US market in 2013.
I was also interested in what a second encounter with such a novelty product would be like. My first impression of the Bracli pearl thong was shaped by its unexpectedness. Before that, I had never seen or imagined a pearl thong and my main reaction was, “this is bonkers sexy!” But once the concept is no longer surprising, what’s left to explore?  Would the experience of wearing it, stripped of its shock value and transgressive excitement, still be worth it?  Aside from feeling naughty, would it feel physically good?
Bracli’s strength is that it does one idea very well. The designers stick to a few raw materials stretch lace, pearl strings, satin ribbon and combine them into a few different silhouettes.  The garments tend to not be heavily seamed or structured, but are very simply constructed and use the stretch quality of the lace, and the wearers’ own bodies to lend shape. From a design perspective, this makes sense, the simplicity of the garments and materials allows the focus to remain on the pearl thong, which, after all, is the main reason to buy Bracli. However, though deflection of focus from the garment construction and limitation in the variety of materials makes strategic sense, I felt during my previous experience with the bodysuit that it could have been more thoughtfully designed so the lace would lie more smoothly against the body instead of gaping at the waist.
I also wondered where else the brand could go with their silhouettes. There is a limited number of lingerie silhouettes that would be able to anchor the pearl thong architecturally. В The main category would have to remain panties and body suits, and the garment would have to be snug against the hips, but with enough stretch to work in tandem with the pearl string. Since the pearl string does not stretch and is flush against sensitive areas, the fabric must compensate for the rigidity of the entire pearl section by stretching to accommodate movement and different body proportions.
So how would this product, with its inherent limitation in variety, be able to diversify? One way is through varied customer base. В The website focuses on female wearers, but also includes a product for men, which two male TLA readers enjoyed and commented about.
And then there’s Bracli & G, the newest concept from Bracli. Introduced in 2014, it takes the pearl thong to a new, internal level.  One commenter to my last review used the phrase “extreme lingerie” to refer to the pearl thong.  I love that wording because it connotes lingerie that goes beyond just suggesting to actually perform an action.  Bracli is designed to both visually and physically stimulate.  If the regular Bracli line is extreme, then the new Bracli & G collection is hyperextreme.
Bracli & G Thong $84.99
While Bracli pearl thongs have a string of pearls connected to the garment at center front waist and center back waist so the pearls lie against the body from front to back, the new Bracli &В G pearl thong features a pearl string that can be detached from the garment at the back. Then the end of the string of pearls, still attached at garment front, can be tied into a cluster and inserted into the wearer, and then the rest is up to you.
The best way to tell, in this case, is to show. Here are stills from Bracli’s instructional video on its site.
Now you get it, right?  The video does a serious job of instructing us how to use the Bracli & G thong, but it also launched me into the giggle zone.  I think it’s the combination of the awkward foreign-translation quality of some of the language along with the outrageous intimacy of what the words are telling me to do.  Or maybe I was laughing because I’m secretly a fourteen-year-old boy.
Bracli has a marketing and instructional challenge with the Bracli & G collection.  In its marketing imagery and wording, it needs to strike a balance between conveying sexiness while not feeling over-the-top or pornographic.  There may be limitations to what viewers, advertising outlets, or other intermediaries would be comfortable with—and yet to convey fully what the product does, the company needs to communicate clearly and overtly.  I can understand their strategy of showing still photos of the Bracli & G thong on a model to suggest a mood, while using a video featuring a stylized, unrealistic female form to instruct on how to use it.
I think this marketing challenge for Bracli mirrors a challenge in how someone uses the product.  When wearing regular lingerie, there is generally no right way to enjoy it so the mood is free and playful.  On the other hand, when using extreme lingerie, one is mindful of using it correctly.  This means that while enjoying the emotion of wearing something beautiful, the wearer also has to keep the left brain revving in order to get the pearls correctly unfastened, tied, and then put where they’re meant to go.  You’d think this, the moodiest of lingerie, would be best enjoyed in the full throes of passion, but I think it’s best enjoyed with a bit more mental engagement, or else… ouch.
The Bracli &В G thong arrived by mail in a pretty scented black box. Included was an instructional pamphlet. В I found it to fit true to size (it is available in S, M, L, PLUS), and I imagine it would work on a variety of sizes and shapes because of the flexibility of the stretch lace. В It could be pulled higher or lower to make the pearls sit closer or farther from the body.
This thong is a very fun idea.  Because it’s a novelty item it invites engagement, and figuring it out feels like an activity in and of itself.  Pearls are generally things of elegance, and I think as an embellishment on a worn garment, they can elevate it.  Once they become part of a toy that needs to be physically hunched over to figure out and tie, they fall a bit from their position of untouchable grace.
I approached the Bracli &В G thong with three questions, which were influenced by reader comments to the last article. В Here are my thoughts about them.
Is it comfortable?
If comfort is the objective, then jockey undies are the way to go.  Both the Bracli pearl thong and the Bracli & G thong are meant to be felt while wearing them.  So if comfort means being able to forget you’re wearing something, then Bracli is not comfortable.  But what it lacks in comfort, it makes up for in interesting sensation.
В Is it sexy?
I showed a picture of the Bracli & G thong to a straight guy to get his perspective.  A bit perplexed, he said, “It looks like her vagina is eating her underwear, like Lady and the Tramp style.”  This may not be a fully representative sentiment, but I had to include it if only to show that pearl thongs are not axiomatically sexy to all people.  I think it’s a fun tool to have at your disposal if you want to feel overtly sexy.  It demands attention and a transformation of physical mood, and cannot be ignored when worn.
Should you buy it?
This is of course a totally subjective matter.  The Bracli & G is a superextreme evolution of extreme lingerie.  It is not junior varsity level underwear.  I think that for customers who own and already enjoy the Bracli pearl thong, the Bracli & G thong is a fun fresh adventure. Otherwise I might suggest starting with the Bracli pearl thong to see what you think.  Using pearls in place of a non-wearable insertion toy is a novel idea for advanced players.  But pearls are made by oysters who may not especially have human G spots in mind when they’re designing them. Consequently, the pearl is a pretty if ergonomically imperfect object for this purpose.  A toy designed more specifically for this is likely to do a better job in the sensation department, though it may not double as a cocktail party bracelet after the deed is done.
Have any readers tried the Bracli &В G thong? В Men out there, we would love to hear from you too.
